Edward J. Zmitrewicz passed away peacefully at his home on August 18, 2017. He was born August 23, 1925 in Holyoke and was the son of the late Stanley and Helen (Brazewski) Zmitrewicz. He attended Sacred Heart school and Holyoke Trade school. He was predeceased by his brother Stanley and his sister Jean (Zmitrewicz) Oechsle. Ed married Evelyn (LaDouceur) Zmitrewicz on November 11, 1949 celebrating 59 years before her passing in April 2009. Ed retired in 1996 from Holyoke Community College where he worked as a Supervisor in the Maintenance Department. After retiring Ed enjoyed his walks at the Holyoke Mall where he joined other walkers in Café Square for coffee and conversation. He also enjoyed spending time at the Holyoke Council on Aging. But what he loved and cherished most was spending time with his family. He felt especially blessed to be able to share his love for adventuring on Cape Cod with his great grand children. Ed’s charisma and open heart are deeply missed, but will remind us of the importance of spreading love and kindness to each other, daily, just as he did. Ed is survived by his daughter Sandra J. (David) Lorenz of Bernardston  Ma., and his son Gary E. Zmitrewicz of Westlake Village Ca. His grandchildren Jillian A. (Lorenz) Penna,  Katelin J. Lorenz-Walraven, Sydney (Zmitrewicz) Gregory and Eddie Zmitrewicz. His niece Patricia Scibelli and his nephew Albert K. Oechsle Jr., his great grandchildren Harper Jean Penna and Joseph David Penna.
