Paul P. Leenders

Paul Peter Leenders, 75, of Holyoke passed away peacefully on October 14, 2019. Born to Paul and Henny Leenders in 1944 in Celle, Germany, Paul emigrated to the United States as a youngster, joining his sister in Cleveland, Ohio. A teacher at heart and by trade, Paul taught history, geography, math, and reading in both the Cleveland Public Schools and Holyoke Public Schools. He coached many soccer teams throughout his life including the men’s team at Cleveland State University, the girls’ varsity team at Holyoke High School, and his son’s youth soccer teams. Paul spent his free time with family, building his model ships, and taking walks at the Reservation. He was a lifelong Cleveland sports fan. In the end, this may have been what killed him. Paul leaves behind his wife Marjie; children Heather and Tracey (TJ) and wife Jennifer; grandsons Lydon and Finnegan; sister Annaliese; and a number of nieces and nephews. Paul is predeceased by his brother Manfred. At the families request services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pedal Thru Youth, P.O. Box 691, Chicopee, MA 01021.
