Sherman Marks Obituary

Sherman J. Marks 83 of Westborough Ma. and a lifelong resident of Holyoke passed away Nov. 24, 2018. He was the son of the late Louis and Anna Marks and was born in Boston March 25, 1935.He graduated from Holyoke High in 1952 and the University of Massachusetts in 1957.He worked his entire life until retirement in 2006 running S. Marks and Company, the Holyoke paint store started by his Grandfather. He was active in civic organizations, including the Holyoke Jaycees and the retail division of the Holyoke Chamber of Commerce. Sherman was also active in his local synagogue, Congregation Sons of Zion, serving as President and Cemetery Committee Chairman. He loved his family and the paint store and enjoyed biking, tennis, reading, barbecuing and home projects. Sherman is survived by his loving wife Helene (Solomon), his children Michael (Nancy) Marks, Adam Marks, Lara (Glenn) Steckler, and 8 grandchildren-Jackson, Eli, Julia, Jacob, Noah, Abigail, Emily and Amanda. Funeral services, entrusted to the Dillon Funeral Home Holyoke, were on Mon. Nov. 26, 2018 at 2 P.M at Congregation Sons of Zion, 378 Maple St. Holyoke. Shiva will be observed at the home of Michael and Nancy Marks beginning on Tues. Nov. 27, 2018 at 7 P.M. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at the Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Congregation Sons of Zion the charity of one’s choice
