Carmen Alicia Roman, 75, of West Springfield, MA, passed away on October 19, 2020 in Holyoke. She was born in Arecibo Puerto Rico, and had lived here for many years. She came to Holyoke with her parents and siblings in 1966. Carmen was a wonderful and caring daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked in a factory as a seamstress until she married and became a full-time mother. She loved children so she often baby sat for family members and friends. She loved and enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Carmen was predeceased by her mother, Filomena Roman Garcia (2015) and father, Segundo Roman (1991). She is survived by her children Modesto Melendez (Jr.), Damian Melendez, and Carmen Melendez; 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. The funeral will be held on Friday October 23rd beginning at 9 a.m. from the Funeral Home followed by a Mass in Immaculate Conception Church at 10 a.m. with burial in Forestdale West Cemetery,154 Rock Valley Rd, Holyoke. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday October 22nd from 6-8 p.m. and will follow guidelines for Covid-19 with the wearing of masks, social distancing and funeral home capacity to 30 people.
