Eugene Brassard Obituary

Eugene P Brassard 84, of Chicopee passed away on November 5th at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield April 13, 1940. He was the son of Emile and Lillian (Bernier) Brassard.  He graduated from Precious Blood High School and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Newport News.  He retired from the transportation industry. He is survived by his Loving wife of 62 years, Constance , “ Connie “ (Fleury). Eugene is Pre-Deceased by his Son-in-Law John F Rusinowski. He leaves his Children:  Michelle Rusinowski, Phillip (Connie), Patty (Michael) Tolle all of Chicopee and James (Scott) of Manchester CT. His grandchildren: Jay (Desi) and Kyle (Sarah) Majerowski, Ryan, Kevin and Connor Tolle, and Great Grand Children Stella and Miles Majerowski, and Ulysses Abeles, Eugene was a family man, teaching his children that it is always family first.  He collected model trains from his childhood, was a lifelong Yankee Fan.  There was not a horror movie made that he didn’t like.  And was often called ‘The Godfather’ by many! He and his Family hosted Exchange Students, Frank Blessing of Germany, Magda Cavanna and Paola Ferrario of Italy, Inger Haegland of Norway and Isabelle Damay of France, all who he kept in contact with for over 40 years and always considered them his own children. Visiting hours will be held on Monday evening Nov.11th from 6-8 p.m. at the Dillon Funeral Home Inc. 124 Chestnut St. Holyoke, with a Liturgy of Christian burial at the St Rose De Lima Church , 600 Grattan St Chicopee on Tues. Nov 12th at 9 a.m. followed by Military Honors and Burial in Agawam Veterans Cemetery at 11 a.m. In Lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Eugene’s Name to the Shiners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104
