George R. Chaples Jr.

George Richmond Chaples Jr., also known as Papa C, 75, of Palmer, MA, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2020.He was born on July 18th, 1944 in Palmer, MA to the late George and Josephine Chaples.George graduated from Springfield Technical High school in 1962 and worked at Flexcon in Spencer, MA for many years.In his earlier years, George was an avid bear hunter.  He was very well known in the community for his contribution to Palmer sports in the 1990s, serving as a coach for his children’s softball and football teams. After retiring, he enjoyed driving through the quabbin to look for wildlife. George was known for his Santa Claus like appearance and was certainly jolly enough to pull it off.  He was loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.George was predeceased by his wife, Dina, in 2017. He is survived by his sister Claire Niedziela, a son Joshua Chaples, a daughter and son-in-law Jodi-Lynn and Richard MacRae, a daughter Kara (Kerribeth) HaKahan, a son Kyle Chaples, and 6 grandchildren Renee and Lauren Chaples, Trevor and Eli MacRae, and Lydia and Everett HaKahan.
