Peter Shewchuk Obituary

Peter D. Shewchuk 73, of Holyoke passed away on Tuesday September 14, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side. Peter was born August 19, 1948 the son of the late Peter S. and Barbara (Gaimari) Shewchuk of Holyoke. Peter graduated from Holyoke High school in 1966. He continued his education at Holyoke Trade school studying Electrical. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1970 where he served as a Seabee in Vietnam of which his family is very proud. Peter was employed by Baystate Medical Center as an Electrician for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed vacationing at Hampton Beach, Las Vegas, Atlantic City and going on numerous cruises with his wife, family and friends. Some of his favorite things were spending time with family, visiting casinos, horse racing, cocktails, playing Keno and his daily numbers. He took pride in being a member of the Holyoke American Legion Post 325. He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Janice (Kisiel), his daughter Alison Vanderleeden and husband Erik of Hampden, five Grandchildren EJ, Nikolas, Aleks, Jake and Kayla (the apples of his eye), his brother Michael Shewchuk and wife Mary Ellen of Holyoke, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Linda Fontaine. Private services will be held at the MA. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, Peter's wish was to have donations made to the St. Jude Children’s research hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
