Sophie Tkacz Obituary

Sophie Tkacz, 79, of Chicopee passed away on April 1, 2020. Born in the Ukraine on December 10, 1940, she was the daughter of Grigor and Tanka (Knysz) Tkacz. Sophie immigrated to the United States in 1949 with her parents and sister, attended Holyoke schools, and graduated from Holyoke High School. She then resided in Chicopee for over 50 years. She last worked at Leland Plastics in Chicopee doing sewing and heat sealing. Predeceased by her parents and her sister, Barbara Yvon, Sophie is survived by her nieces Jamie Gil (Jim) of Agawam and Sharon Neilsen (Rick) of Southampton, a nephew Michael Yvon (Laura) of Easthampton, 6 great nieces and nephews, and her cousin, Mary Matwijiw of Whitestone, NY. A graveside burial and committal service will be held for family at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
