Victor Santos

Our beloved Victor Santos Santos, 89, was called to his heavenly home on April 6, 2022. He was surrounded by his compassionate caregivers and nursing staff at the Holyoke HealthCare Center at the time of his passing. Victor was born on March 13, 1933, in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico to Victor Antonio Marquez but was raised by his grandfather Eufemio Santos.  His mother’s name was Felipa Santos. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.  He relocated from Puerto Rico in the early 70’s.  He was a long-time employee in National Felt Company in Easthampton, MA before retiring in the early 90’s.He lived in Holyoke for many years and was well known by many people.  He was known for all the walking he did.  Anywhere he needed to go was always on foot, and anyone he passed by knew his name.  You would think that with all the walking he did, he would wear sneakers.  But instead, he wore dress shoes everywhere he went.  You could hear him coming from a distance. He was a man of many friends.  Victor was predeceased by his infant daughter Lydia Inez, his son Victor Felix and his wife Romualda Santos, lovingly calling Julia.  He is survived by his 5 remaining children, Rafael Santos, Ivis Awilda Santos, Jose Santos, Orlando Santos and Dorcas Rios.  He was the grandfather and great grandfather to many children and a great-great grandfather to a little one.  He also leaves behind several sisters and nieces, as well as nephews both in Puerto Rico and the US.In honor of Victor’s life, a humble service will be held on Wednesday April 13, 2022, from 6-8 P.M. at Dillon Funeral Home, located at 124 Chestnut Street in Holyoke, MA. In an effort to respect all present, the casket will remain closed for the first portion of the service (6:00-7:30 P.M.), then it will be opened for viewing for the remaining part of the service. We will be meeting at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Dillon Funeral Home, located at 124 Chestnut Street in Holyoke, MA.  There will be a procession at 10:30 A.M. heading to the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA, where his burial services will be provided at 11 A.M. promptly. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made at the service.
