Chester J. Provoda

Chester J. Provoda, 96, of Springfield Ma. Born and raised in Holyoke July 3, 1919, he was the son of the late Michael and Tekla Provoda. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Gloria (Danforth) Provoda. He is survived by his two daughters Cathleen Provoda of Stoddard N.H. and Lauren Provoda of Northampton, his son Chet Provoda and his wife Jane (Kent) of Ann Arbor Mi., 2 grandsons Brian Geoghegan, Seamus Geoghegan and his wife Julie, 2 great grandsons Elijah and Eoin all residing in Hartland Vt.  Chet attended Holyoke Public schools. He was a Navy Veteran during WWII and was one of the survivors from the Aircraft carrier U.S.S. Lextington which was sank by the Japanese in the Battle of the Coral Sea. In continuing his education in Boston he received his class II Steam Engineers license and worked at the Holyoke Gas & Electric as a Steam Engineer until his retirement. Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
